Straight from GDC comes Gamespy's Deus Ex 2 preview:
Another aspect of the game that has changed from the original is the ways bodies react when they fall. In the original game, when bodies fell, they became rigid, which looked especially weird on steps. Money said they have adopted rag doll physics now instead of death animations. He shot a couple of characters in the game and they fell in different directions. When a character was shot on the steps, they actually rolled down to the bottom. Again, another plus for more realism.
Money said the game just passed an important milestone: the evaluation of the story and how it works within the context of the game. The team is really satisfied with how the story has progressed and all the main quests are now in the game, as are a few of the side quests. All of the major aspects of the game are in place. The next milestone is April 1, when all quests should be in and the AI will be fully implemented. |
