Swiss GBase has a German review of Ion's 'Deus Ex' sequel awarding the game a score of 90% while Foxfire's English review was not quite as favorable ending up in a score of "only" 7.5/10. Here's a snip from the latter:Deus Ex: Invisible War is an ambitious title, as it has to be, to follow the original Deus Ex which was released back in 2000. The original game was set in the near future in which you played JC Denton, a super-agent for the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO). The world suffered from a deadly plague known as the Grey Death and terrorist attacks were all part of a normal day. You were dropped off at Liberty Island in New York and told some terrorists had stolen a shipment Ambrosia, a vaccine used to treat the plague, and it was your job to get it back. Then you were cut loose. You were given freedom. How you accomplished your mission hung on nothing more than your whim. You could attack the front door, slaying everyone, or you could silently creep around knocking your enemies unconscious and removing resistant little by little. You could even creep in the back without drawing the attention of anyone. |
