System Zero has posted a preview of Final Fantasy X-2 for PS2. Once again, here's an excerpt, this time about gameplay:
The gameplay is where things are differing drastically from the usual formula. There are a number of platforming elements, with lots of running, jumping, climbing and all that fun stuff. It pretty much amounts to holding down the X button while you run towards objects to either leap them or hop up on them, but they try and make it exciting. The active time battle system is a pain in the ass, and despite having an option to turn it off, the enemies just go on and do what they damn well please. Yeah, it's "more realistic," but to hell with planning and strategy as you just end up jumping to the first convienient thing to pop up in your menu screen. On the bright side, if you bother working out the timing, you can get team combo attacks that do increased damage as two or all three party members deliver attacks at the same time. Also, both you and the enemies can be knocked out of attack and spell sequences. |
