1Up's own Garnett Lee brings us his own impressions of GPG's upcoming saga, Dungeon Siege 2...

What we had forgotten is the unique way Dungeon Siege lets you decide what class your character takes. Rather than making a selection that is then set in stone, you earn experience in each of four areas based on what you do. For instance, casting healing spells earns nature magic experience. Blasting fireballs, on the other hand, results in combat magic experience.

This build-as-you-go system offers a lot of freedom. Sure you'll probably focus on one primary area, but there is nothing dictating what you can and can't do. If two weeks into the game you decide that your frost blasting mage needs to wield a sword, all you have to do is spend some time doing it.
