We received a couple of mails in the last few days about players having had problems with disappearing items in the Project Entropia commercial trial. It is a bigger problem than usual since in this commercial trial you actually PAID for them with rela money. Now the official website announces a tester referendum to determine how to handle this problem:
BUG AND SUPPLY SYSTEM FAILURE CAUSE LOSS OF ITEMS

FIRST VOTE IN PROJECT ENTROPIA WITH FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

Some initial bug and balancing problems have affected the participants of Project Entropia. Some items have been lost and recently a problem with a battery back-up system during a blackout of the electricity supply caused the economy server to fail. This is not the way things should be, and the situation has to be corrected. MindArk takes participation satisfaction and security issues very seriously and therefore some new ways of progressing are under review.

Due to the nature of these errors and problems, there is no way for MindArk to compensate only those users who actually lost items. In the future, after the Commercial Open Trial Phase, this will not be a problem, as we are currently working on solutions. This may have only affected a few users. If we restore the accounts to what they were, this would mean restoring them to an original state, thus restoring the PED balances, but also restoring all skills, attributes and items acquired to zero.

    We want you to decide!

A vote will be taken, and the majority outcome followed. The vote will begin next week and last for two weeks. Additional Voting Booths will be added in the patch next week, making your democratic right to vote as easy as possible. The choice with the majority of the votes will show the future path of Project Entropia Commercial Open Trial.

The two options available are outlined as follows:

    Vote for Refund:
The character will be wiped of all items, regardless of rarity, in their inventory, and all skill levels and attribute levels will be reset at the end of the Project Entropia Commercial Open Trial phase. You then have to start over in the training of your Avatar. The total amount deposited from your credit card into Project Entropia Dollars will be restored to that exact same amount in your Project Entropia account.

    Vote for No Refund:
The character and inventories are not changed during the Project Entropia Commercial Open Trial. No refund of money or items spent or lost in Project Entropia, regardless of reason, is made. You keep your Avatar as is.

    Comments to
Vote for Refund: you should vote for this alternative if your loss is important to you, and if you do not care about defining a new Avatar. You should also vote for this alternative if you find that sometimes the lack of balance in Project Entropia has caused certain activities, in your view, to become unreasonably expensive.

    Comments to
Vote for No Refund: you should vote for this alternative if you have already amassed high skills, items in the inventory you want to keep, or in general increased your value in Project Entropia.

The weight of your vote in Project Entropia is calculated based on your current attained skill and attribute levels, your inventory value, and your Project Entropia credit card balance

As a result of this procedure the function of withdrawing cash from Project Entropia will be suspended until the outcome of the vote is determined. Depending on the outcome of this vote, one of two things will happen; If the Refund alternative wins the vote, then withdrawals will be suspended until the end of the Commercial Open Trial phase. If the No Refund alternative wins, then withdrawing will be possible again after the voting period has ended, and the result has been made public, in the middle of July.

So, brave citizens of Calypso – the future is truly in your hands!
I sincerely hope that they will find a just solution that makes everyone happy.
