The latest installment of the Titan Quest developer blog is up for your perusal at Titan Quest Vault. This week's focus is "Who's the boss" and covers battling in game "bosses":
What makes the bosses in Titan Quest different from the bosses in other action RPGs? The first answer is that TQ isn’t a generic adventure set in a random fantasy world, but is instead an epic quest set in the mists of our own world’s legendary past. Because of this, we’ve had the opportunity to bring to life some of the most interesting creatures from the myths and legends of different cultures in the ancient world. This applies first to many of the monsters you’ll regularly encounter in the game, like Satyrs and Centaurs and the strange cat-like Maenads, but on a greater scale to the boss monsters. You may have seen screenshots of the Cyclops, a one-eyed monstrosity wielding a club the size of a full-grown tree. I’m happy to report that the Cyclops is only the beginning of the amazing boss encounters you’ll see in TQ! The three-headed Chimera, the giant bronze automaton Talos, the Minotaur, Medusa and the other Gorgon sisters…and the list goes on. There’s just something very cool about fighting creatures straight out of myth and legend. Not all of our bosses derive from myth, of course, but enough do that it really adds a lot of authentic flavor to the game.
