Stephen Reid, European Content and Community Manager for City of Heroes talks to Boomtown about the European launch:Boomtown: Thousands of European gamers already use the American servers. Since it takes many months to build up cool characters and supergroups, they will probably be reluctant to move to European servers. How are you planning to get them to migrate?
Stephen Reid: The first thing to say is this: no-one has to move anywhere. We'd certainly be happy if people did move, but if they're happy on the US servers with their characters and their supergroups, then they can stay there. We don't mind where you play, just as long as you play.
For those interested in moving, well we have a few ways to entice them.
One is we're putting together a fantastic retail box which will have loads of goodies in it; some are physical, a few virtual. It's a compilation of the best stuff from both US editions.
The second thing is a plan that I can't quite reveal just yet, but essentially we're working on a way to ensure that current European players on the US servers will be able to start playing on the European servers without having to buy the European retail release. This has come about directly from the feedback we received about this on the US boards. |
