There is a Warlords 4 interview at HomeLan today, discussing the latest installment in this strategy game with a lot of fantasy elements - due to be released next year. Gregor Whiley from SSG anserws some questions like this one:
HomeLAN - How will the feature of persistant heroes work in Warlords IV?
Gregor Whiley - Shamelessely plagiarising our own successful hero advancement in Warlords Battlecry II, we have heroes who can be used in individual scenarios and in the campaign, moving back and forth from one to the other. Unlike that game, you will be able to have multiple heroes in a game of Warlords IV.
Heroes will gain experience in combat and will go up levels. At each level a hero will gain ability points which may be spent on a range of abilities including command bonuses and spells. Other abilities, like melee combat, archery and spells will gain experience each time they're used, going up levels independently. So if you buy a lightning bolt spell it will be fairly weak, but will get better as you use it. Both the way you spend your ability points and the way you use your hero in combat influence how he develops. It's a lot of fun. |
