A review of Icewind Dale 2 Collectors Edition can be found at Stratos Group. The price of the CE has been cut to $39,90 (story, so it's worth a look for those who haven't got the game yet, and even for those who would like to own the content of this edition. Rating is 3.7/5, and this is their conclusion:
Icewind Dale 2 is the ultimate application of the Infinity Engine to a modern computer role-playing game. It demonstrates technical excellence and good presentation values, while simultaneously trying to offer the player a variety of quests and dialogue choices. Like its predecessor, Icewind Dale 2 desperately wants to prove that a dungeon crawl can be more than just a series of unrelated battles and trips to town for purchasing equipment. In many ways the game succeeds in this goal. Unfortunately, IWD2 is also constrained by its hack-and-slash roots, and the continual combat encounters can get in the way of the story. Even so, IWD2 is a solid game in its own right, and those looking for an action-oriented dungeon romp will probably get the most out of this latest addition to the family of Infinity Engine games. |
