PnP luminary Steve Jackson (GURPS and others) has been interviewed at GamerGod about the industry and his potential interest in working in a modern MMO property:GG: As we met you in the MMO Rant at the Austin Game Conference, would you mind elaborating on what you view as the industry’s shortcomings and what it needs to accomplish before moving forward?
SJ: First: New projects are too derivative of the Last Big Hit. There's very little originality. Second: Too many games are aimed at the lowest common denominator of player, which means that's what they get, and the more mature players are driven away. Third, as I said at the rant: the industry standard for documentation is miserably bad. |
