Gaminggroove has posted a Freedom Force Developer Diary, written by Kenneth Levine from Irrational Games, giving a little inside into the progress they have made with their upcoming superhero RPG. Here's a part from the short article:

We've hit EA alpha, which for the normal world is beta. That is, we are basically feature complete and are now focusing on tuning, testing and polishing. The game is on track for a late February or early march release. One thing I have to talk about is the character builder. I spent the weekend (before I went on a press tour at EA) playing the game and building custom superheroes. Let me just say this: Freedom Force has a character building system that is sick. And I'm not prone to use the work "sick" mind you. Let me see if I can describe what Jon and the boys (and girls) have come up with: you can build a character, use a built in user created mesh and/or skin on that character (I downloaded a Bill Clinton skin over the weekend from skindex.com and went nuts making superbill.
