RPGDot Game Rating Machine

MoonDragon has rated the following games:

Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 6/10 points

A good play for any serious RPGer and a fan of Fallout series. But don't expect great improvement. The graphics were as bad if not worse than fallout (even though many years separate the two). The story was interesting if somewhat prolonged. At times it felt as if it is beating a dead horse. Freedom was nice, but not plentiful. Repetitive and annoying beginning of the game seriously removes the will and desire for replaying. Serious software development quality control issues (no show stoppers, but plenty of small annoying bugs).

Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction: 3/10 points

As said before, RPG elements are non-existent beyond kill for xp and buy skills with xp to kill more efficiently. IMHO that's not RP. This game is the grand-daddy of hack and slash and that is the only thing it excels at. 10/10 for hack and slash. 0/10 for RP. (I'm biased towards RP so it didn't get 5/10 overall.)

Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 7/10 points

Freedom comes at price of generic world, NPCs, quests, etc. Good idea; needs more work.

Fallout 2: 10/10 points

A must have for any self-respecting RPGer and any gamer for that matter.

Lionheart - Legacy of the Crusader: 8/10 points

It plays like the BG series, rather than the Fallout series. Definately recommended for BG lovers, but only recommended for Fallout lovers if they don't have anything better to do.

Star Wars: Galaxies - An Empire Divided: 7/10 points

First off, I agree with Ekim on most major points. I find the game to be outright hostile to new players. Do not trying playing it without being ready to read a lot of guides and HOWTOs before starting out. Or have a friend with an infinite amount of patience to guide you through it all. I disagree with Ekim on the combat (at least for now). Although, this could be very dependent upon the character you play. I play a very hybrid char and as such, there is always different things to do in combat. Perhaps I'll get bored of it in a while, but it's not as bland as it may seem at first. Overall, the game is fun. I think it lacks character a bit, but this is something that may come with time, once the players put the effort to carve their niches in the universe.
