Well, a female Firbolg's look :-). Womengamers.com has written a beta report about Dark Age of Camelot. Basically, it's a nice beginners guide to the game, with lots of explanations and basic info. Have a look:
I chose the Path of Focus, or Warden, mainly because the realm was already saturated with bards and druids. I wanted to try something different from the popular class choices. As a warden, I gained new skills such as Blades and Blunts.
I chose to pursue blade-based weapons, and continued pumping my Nurture and Regrowth. Allocating more points to the Nurture skill gave me special spells with which to buff myself and others, whereas putting points into Regrowth gave my character the ability to heal. Increasing my Blades skill gave me new special attacks, and also increased the amount of damage I could dish out. I found out pretty quickly that I needed to keep my Blades skill maxed out for my level to be an effective fighter.
All of the Naturalist-class characters are wonderful for group support because of their ability to heal and cast protective spells, but the Warden has the added bonus of being able to carry some fairly hefty armor and use special attacks with a blade or blunt weapon. Wardens can hold their own on the front line, or may hang behind to heal (depending on what is needed for the group), but they are not the best fighters or the best group support characters. Wardens provide a decent balance of both muscle and group support for the more fickle gamer.
Bards seem to be the best type of naturalist for group support. They have the ability to mesmerize creatures, freezing them in one place, which comes in quite handy when someone accidentally pulls more creatures than they can handle into the fight. Plus, like all other naturalists, they have the ability to heal. Bards can also sing songs that will regenerate the group's health, endurance, and power quickly, or even play music to quicken the pace so that it doesn't take so long to cross the world. This is particularly useful when playing Realm versus Realm (RvR), since the bard can help the group outrun the enemy. Bards get to wear some armor, but it's not as good as the armor wardens and druids get since their main function is to maintain a supporting role. They can also use a small shield, and have the ability to learn special attacks for blade and blunt weapons.
Druids are known for their ability to play solo well. They can heal, wear heavy armor, use a small shield, and cast offensive spells, but they do not get the advantage of having special attacks on their weapons like the Warden. Instead, they can raise a pet to help them take down a foe. The pet also helps keep unwanted adversaries off of them when being attacked by too many creatures. |
