Barshemm.com has a nice feature where readers can submit questions and developers/publishers will answer them. This time, the Q&A was about Dark Age of Camelot, and the answers came from Mythic Entertainment’s Internet Relations Manager, Sanya Thomas. Like this one:

Falkayn - One of the flaws of Everquest (among several) was a lack of tools, especially communication tools, to facilitate either multi-group raids and/or guild alliances. Which was a major pain considering the emphasis on multi-group raids. It appears DAoC will have the same need, especially with RvR. This caused a major problem for the smaller, tightly knit guilds and led to the rise of the faceless "uber" guilds there. Does Mythic have plans to implement ingame tools to help us with raids compromised of multiple guilds or will we be forced into the the superguild concept?

Sanya - Now that we've released, you may have seen our alliance interface and heard about "supergroups." We have an alliance chat channel, so that allied guilds can have a special channel for their communication. There is a "friend group" channel, where up to twenty people can share a temporary channel for whatever reason. And it is possible, for RVR veterans who have earned the reward, for certain people to set up supergroups - eight groups of eight - and coordinate them. So there are a number of ways for small guilds to form alliances and keep their own unique identity. By the way, the documentation on guild alliances is really bad right now; we are working the kinks out of the system and then publishing the how-tos.
