Rend's Rants: The PoR Stuntman

Mondays are even more slow with news than Sundays, at least up to noon server time. It's hard to find a relevant piece of information. So actually this leaves a little time for real life :-) - and in real life I was able to get my hands on a brand new copy of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. I won't hesitate to install it today, because I'd like to do a first impressions article on it this week. A first indication of my feelings will be the amount of newsbits I will be posting this week - if it is small, you bet I like the game (or it erased my HD *g*).

May I direct your attention to our donation status page again? Not so much to motivate you to help us paying the server (of course this would be a nice gesture of you *smile*), but more to let you have a look at the financial background of a site like ours. We decided to make our finances transparent this summer, so that you can see how we run this site, how much we earn and how much we spend.

BTW - some of the folks here at RPGDot planned a meeting at the Oktoberfest in Munich this weekend, but we decided to postpone our get together until the political and military situation works out. It is eerie that you feel a lack of safety when going to public places nowadays, something I never expected to have. And the other trange thing is that you forget things: It just recently came to my mind that the Octoberfest was a target for a terrorist attack before, back in 1980, when 13 people were killed. This happened when I was 17, and I never thought about that until September this year - now I see those picture in front of my eyes again.

Let's all hope that the international coalition against terrorism shows what the attackers didn't: restraint, thoughtfulness and civilized behaviour...
