A fun action rpg - like a single player Icewind Dale or Ultima 7, many quests, puzzles,good dialogues, many items, weapons & armor, good skill system, nice story, graphics could be a bit better, some very interesting challenging fights, but too much easy Diablo-like fighting. |

Played German version since I live in Denmark. Upsides: Great gameplay. Awesome character development. Lots of freedom. Downsides: Decent graphics, but not breathtaking (who cars anyway?) Btw, all who judge/review a game form its DEMO should be lined up against a wall and shot. |

This one is fun. Big fun, really. It starts out like Diablo 2 with dialogue and quests, and after three or four hours into the game you suddenly know that you have a full-blown RPG with so many quests and so much depth before you. Great game, and I highly recommend it. |

It really is no Diablo clone! Better compare it to Ultima VII(which is a great compliment).
I should like some walkthrough though(think of Prima books for US games,-sigh!), mainly to be able to find certain keys for e.g.the graveyard or the Graden of N. I shall do allthe fighting myself gladly and not complain about errands! |

I played demo in school for 3 hours... and WHOA! I wanted to stay in class room forever, and thats much! I love game´s atmosphere, you can do what u want to do... Look there´s annoying rock there, move it =) or create barricade from objects and nuke that bad skellie to skellyheaven =) Im waiting this game like christmas, its unbeliviable! Graphics arent that bad, ok theyre not eyecandy but what the heck? Graphics dont make game... Graphics tho lower my rating from 11 to 10 =) and afterall graphics are quite nice, awesome for 2d =) |

Really good, the only thing i miss is an Autosave feature. And it is really long. I think its the only game that took me over a month to complete (unfortunatly i had to restart at that time and and so i still don't know the end, but i'm still playing...) |

Great immersiveness; takes the best from BG, Diablo, etc. and improves on virtually every aspect. Combat a little dicey at times in that a very tough mini-boss will suddenly show up and wipe the floor with you. Occassionally unresponsive to mouse-clicks. Excellent overall. |

good things = buch of quest, depth feeling, nice interation, top-notch music..etc.
bad things = creatures, NPC's animations look stiff and clumbsy. Only charcacter's animations are so smooth. this is my only complaint. :(

This game is like a super conductor magnet. It sucks you in and won’t let you go !
The main quests are nicely link, following a very good story line and even the side quests are somehow logical, fitting in the game world.
You can build your character like you want and you think about other character possibilities, how would it be as a mage with all summoning powers or a super strong warrior or a stealthy thieve with great assassin skills ? The replay potential is enormous.
The graphics are often seen as a down point but graphics doesn’t make good and fun game play. I think the graphics are one of the best seen for the type (2D) that is selected. All this about 3D graphics is just a hype and everybody wand’s to jump on the band wagon and most failing miserably. No, just give me a excellent and detailed 2D graphics over shoddy un-detailed 3D graphics any time.

This game came as a surprise to me. I hadn't heard about it before it landed in my shop and since one of the editors on RPGdot recommended it and Gothic 2 was delayed, I took a chance and bought this. For once I was lucky since this game is BRIMFUL of fun! It has lots and lots of small/medium/large quests, plenty of monsters to hunt and kill, lots of (somewhat bad) humour, varied npc's and a large world to explore. I love the skill system too since you're not restricted to the class you choose in the beginning of the game. You can choose skills from ANY class when you level. Erm.. anyhow, great game! |

I have played (and developed) CRPGs for a long time. I've worked in the industry for eight years, and have played these games since I was a kid...for over 20 years.
This game is phenomenal. It's not using the same tech that people are coming to expect...it's more like Fallout (or Baldur's Gate, or other BIS games) technology, but taken to a bit of a higher level. Not a lot of high-end graphics wizardry is what might keep people away...but honestly the graphics serve the game well, and to dismiss the game because the graphics aren't cutting-edge would be a big mistake.
The gameplay and the immersiveness is where this game shines. You CAN play this game for five minutes, progress a bit, and quit. But you'll have a heck of a time doing it. It's more like potato chips...just a LITTLE longer.
It's really open ended, and you feel like you can follow your own nose and do what you want when you want. There's a LOT of scripted events, though, and everything reacts to what you're doing...it never feels generic or randomly generated. Everything feels handcrafted and like a true piece of gaming art.
What's funny is that the more you play it, the more it seems to turn into YOUR game...like a well-worn baseball glove.
Comparitively, I liked Morrowind and NWN just fine. I thought NWN would be as good as it got...man was I wrong! |

Awesome RPG. Diablo2 meets Baldurs Gate2 and only takes the best parts from both. Fun dialogs and NPC encounters. Great story and addictive gameplay. If you start playing, you will soon shutdown the phone and don't go to work until you finished the quest for fame and glory. |

Don't vote based on the Demo, it doesn't do it justice. The only reason i don't give this game a 10. I came across a snag in the game where a quest is messed up (well known with the devs, and a fix is going to come out for)and i had to reload to a save that was about 2 hours of game behind. So save often. But other than that, this game is awsome RPG. take the control and some of the mechanics and Ultima 5 and stick them in a blender and then put alot of polish on it.. add a good shot of humor and you got Divine Divinity. |

Starts out a bit on the slow side seeming like a generic hack n slash, but once you get a few hours into it you begin to realize it is much much more. I am completely hooked. It borrows elements from a lot of great CRPGs (to name a few - Ultima, Morrowind, BG series, Fallout) but is itself distinctive. Get this game and give it a chance. It is a real pleasure, a truly wonderful, deep and thrilling RPG. Also I always think it's nice to support smaller studios who obviously care a lot about the kind of games they are making. |

Wow, so I finally found out what "Sleeper Hit" means. I hadn't even heard about this game til about 3 days ago. I read about it on a messageboard and it caught my interest...downloaded the demo, loved it, then went out and bought the game. Now I have something other than Morrowind to tide me over..and with Arx Fatalis and Tribunal coming out soon I won't have to buy any other games for months. :) |

Forget 3D-games(excluding "Gothic"!)
This is really a game with a lot of wit and a good complex story, even if it quite difficult to play because you often do not know where the "Good" or "Bad" ones are and where to act the Avatar or the rogue.(I just hope there will be a strategy book some day). |

This is a great game, that's pretty obvious by now. The only problems I had were enemies being pretty hard for beginning characters if not built right and some pathfinding issues. Otherwise I absolutely love this game.

This is one true RPG, you can even have your home to decorate in any way you like. Just collect any of the 1000 of items in the game and have at it. Many hours to complete so have some extra time on your habds. Just a very enjoyable game. The only drawback if any are some bugs. I have xp, 1.7 p4, 64mb geforce 3, 256 ram and have had several crashes. Be sure to save often. |

I can't sum up all of the things that make this game unbelievably fun to play. Picture perfect rpg... If you have not played it... YOUR LUCKY! I wish I could go back and replay it over and over and over... without knowing the storyline :)
The first time I played this was from the demo.. Resolution was 640X480.. Kinda looked bad... But damn the option for 800X600 on the Full version and wow.. this game is badass!

Although I haven't gotten to far in this game as of yet I'm compeled to state that this game is well done despite some disapoint on how I precieve it. Graphics(although not the greatest) are quite nice, the story is better written than I'm used to(and that is oh-so nice), game play is typacle with a few extras., animation is really its biggest fault(figures look to stiff and there is no smooth transition in animation). But the music...well...is probably the best i have ever heard(I used to think the music in the Icewind Dale and Baldurs Gate games was the best done ...but i have changed my mind). thanks go to Larian for a game that entertains. |

Upsides: fun (and diverse) skill system, items, quests. Downsides: stereotypical gameworld characterized by great lack of imagination. Too easy to "break" story by doing things in the "wrong" order, though the large world gives a misleading sense of freedom. Graphics: the trouble with 2D graphics is that they look worse rather than better on large monitors; everything's either too little or fuzzy.

Nice game, nice graphics (yes it is!), amazing music, the story is ok and the ending is marvellous, but....in some way the game needs atmosphere. I was never really engaged - I don´t know what´s missing.
And there are too much hack´n´slash for my taste.
But, a nice game. It´s worth giving a try.

I never thought I would like this kind of hack'n'slash game, but this one is really good. Maybe because it's not just a boring dungeon crawl, although it appears very much like that at first due to the simplicity of the combat. It may look like Diablo, but it definitely feels more like Black Isle's games. |

I don't get the glowing reviews... I can live with the substandard graphics and sound. But the interface isn't so hot (I've never seen a game that made mere scrolling such an ordeal), the game is just hard, even on "easy" level, and really, I found it to be boring. Click on a skeleton, wait a minute or so, and either you die (probably) or it dies. Whee, what a party... |

Buetiful gothic artwork.Very realistic world made me feel like i could smell the cow dung on the farm fields.Very scary haunted graveyards,churches,dungeons etc.Huge amounts of conversations for each character in the world.Combat is exciting and has plenty of death on the edge moments.Music is some of the most buetiful and atmospheric i have ever heard in a game.Plenty of humour in a Evil Dead Movies kind of way. |

bought this, played it for three hours or so, found it disgustingly hard, set it aside
read much (months) later that the game would alter gameplay if the executable was tampered with (i was using a nocd), played it again uncracked (i fricking hate mechanical noise from cd drives) and was definitely impressed
that gameplay-altering might just be a bit of scareware for all i know, it did seem quite a bit more manageable in the difficulty stakes though, so if you have similar problems take off the nocd |

Joining the choir: great game :)) I personally did not mind the graphics at all, and the atmosphere is great. After the pre-release news I was intrigued, afterplaying the demo - delighted. It really started out as a bit of Diablo, but when you are spat dead by a dragon while walking innocently among the woods, you cannot help wondering that this game will have a bunch of surprises in stock for you. And it does. Nicely balanced development, GREAT story with nice twists... and everything. |

The first 2/3's of this game is wonderful: Lots of quests, huge world, great character development, lots of action and equipment, satisfying skills and so on. It was great fun and actually required you to think once in a while. But the last part of the game wasn't as good. I'm not sure why, but it seemed as if the game ran out of steam near the end and the last maps I played through just to see the ending and not because it was fun. Strange, but still a great game! |

Reasonably good BG 2 clone. However, the stats of the loots, especially weapons and armors, are randomly generated, even the "unique" ones!!! That means you can find an extremely powerful weapon early in the game and then the fights are completely unbalanced. On the other hand, your "Dragon armor set" can have very bad stats... This is extremely frustating and actually makes me give up before the end of the game. When I say randomly, I mean a stat between 100 and 450, whatever your level is...As a clone of an existing game, it could not have reached a top rating, but with this frustating and incomprehensible design, the rating is even lower. |

Yuck - I hated this game, the graphics were dire. It had continuous loading sequences and the game play stank. And just to top it off, it's one of those great games where you get killed in almost every encounter with evil things so you better get used to saving and reloading - why this scores better than NWN in this chart I'll never know. |
