We just received a German press release from JoWood, announcing that 'Gothic II' will be distributed worldwide (except Austria, Germany and Switzerland where the game has already shipped) by Infogrames. We will update this newsbit with the official English press release as soon as it becomes available.
JoWooD to enter into international marketing agreement with Infogrames for "Gothic II"
Rottenmann/Lyon - April 23, 2003: Austrian software developer and publisher JoWooD Productions Software AG today announced the conclusion of an exclusive agreement with Infogrames for the international marketing of their role-play game sensation "Gothic II". With the exception of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the agreement covers the worldwide publishing, marketing and distribution of the title.
With Gothic II, JoWooD AG and the developing team Piranha Bytes have succeeded in creating one of the great blockbusters in Germany for 2002. The role-play game has now earned a VUD Gold Award for more than 100,000 sold units since its release on 29 November 2002. In addition to winning critical acclaim by the entertainment software association and trade magazines, the title is also enthusiastically received by gamers, who have now in the recent GameStar awards named Gothic II the role-play game of the year.
Thomas Kirchenkamp, Member of the Board at JoWooD, comments: "We are delighted that in Infogrames we have found a partner who, with their global presence is the ideal partner for the international sales and marketing of Gothic II."
Christian Gloe, SVP Europe at Infogrames: "With Gothic II, our products portfolio now includes one of the best role-play games on the market today. We would like to congratulate Piranha Bytes as well as JoWooD on the development of this superb title and are thrilled to be able to offer this must-have in the field of role-play games to our fans all over the world."
