Gameraiders has a review of Morrowind up. It gets a respectable 85% and their conclusion is this:

The Elder Scrolls games are very well detailed and expansive games, but you have to be able to invest considerable time into this particular game. Morrowind is a great game to play and is intensely bound in reality. Is this concept such a good idea in a fantasy game? The answer is: Probably not yet. It’s a bit too immersive for my empirical tastes, but there also is a possibility that the other games of this genre will come to need a more realistic element to them, then I think, Morrowind will be a welcome addition to the game collection, until then, I think only die-hard Elder Scrolls fans will truly enjoy this game to the fullest, whereas the rest of us will have to muddle through with learning how to master some of the interface’s nuances.
