1Up joins the list of 'Pirates!' reviewers. The score is 8.5/10 and here's a snippet:
Sid Meier's Pirates! is a handy lesson in the virtue of restraint. Sometimes, the makers of strategy and simulation games seem to assume that "more" is "better" -- the more variables, the more options, the more nested menus, the more rewarding a game will presumably be for the player. The people who made Pirates! know better, though. This is a game whose developers know exactly what to leave out.
