Icewind Dale II received an excellent score of 95% (!) in Invisible Dream's lengthy review.

Here's a snip:
If you're looking for pure action, then perhaps Icewind Dale 2 is not for you. Neverwinter Nights -and perhaps the Diablo series- is more suited for the hack and slash fanatics. Icewind Dale 2 does not offer that; instead, this game offers a deep storyline that will take huge amounts of time to deliciously unfold. As most hard-core RPGs, there's quite a bit of reading to do, and lots of decision-making and character management. The game will seem to move along at a snail's pace, and that may not sit well for gamer's looking for non-stop action.
