One of the things we keep coming back to as we work on the details of implementation is the role of pirates in our gameworld. It's easy to lose sight of the big picture when you're worrying about the speed that a ship turns in the navigation zone, or the color of the targeting arrow over an enemy ship. So, it's always nice to be able to step back and think about broader issues. Piracy is one of those broad issues.
We're of two minds about pirates here. On one hand, we know we're making a game about pirates. It's right there in the game's title, after all. The pirate experience is, in many ways, our game-defining experience. It's what people think of when they think of the Caribbean in the Age of Sail.
