My favorite RPG's are open-ended, totally non-linear, chock-full of stats you can improve and tweak, tons of loot, and great graphics. Morrowind has all of these in spades, and an outstanding user community who have built mod after mod after mod - so the game truly never ends. Some good official expansions too. Now we can look forward to Bethesda taking over the Fallout series in addition to bringing us the Elder Scrolls IV (easily my most anticipated upcoming game). Do yourself a favor and get this one.
