Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth: Game Info, Dark Corners of the Earth (Back to contents)

Health
The combat within the game is extremely realistic, with a detailed damage and healing system that breaks down the healing process into conditions and treatments. If the injury is serious enough, you need to wait for an ambulance to pick you up and take you to the local hospital. Broken bones can take months of hospital time to heal, and you may even need physical therapy. When the main character sustains damage his health is reduced by a certain amount. But, more importantly, there is a chance of further complications developing, known as injuries. If these are not treated then the player's health may continue to suffer, for instance in the case of heavy bleeding this would be through the loss of blood. These injuries, or ailments, are addressed through an intuitive treatment system provided in an off-screen game interface.
Sanity
The insanity effects play a large part into the gameplay. Some of effects include visual hallucinations, dizziness, vertigo, sound hallucinations, and shaking. These insanity affects aren't just for cosmetic purposes, but have an actual impact on your game. You will have to keep your mental health in check as you are exposed to the increasingly shocking images of the Cthulhu Mythos. You will need to combat enemies using the environment, powerful and evil artifacts, Alien technology, or by fighting with weapons that are completely authentic for the period. On H.P.Lovecraft |
