I'm not at all clear on the original source but French fansite NWN-Cfr.org appears to have a genuine scan/copy of the NWN2 ad from the Dragonshard manual - in full colour.

In full size you can make out reasonable detail, so interested fans should definitely take a look. Thanks, NWN 2 News. In addition, the resourceful NWN 2 News folk have photoshopped out the distracting watermarks here.

Finally, Obsidian programmer Brian Lawson has commented on the age of these shots:

I won't say they don't, because I don't like to knock my own game/work. But, let's just say those are easily 5+ to 6 months old. As I've already said several times, things have changed and improved quite a bit. The tech was still under heavy development at the time, and I'm sure Darren Monahan, our producer, who mocked that page up for Atari as an "example" never intended for those to be released to the public. That aside... I hope you all have your subscriptions to PC Gamer. There you'll get a much more accurate reprsentation of what's going on "today"...and not 6 months ago.
Thread.

Update: Rhomal from NWN 2 News let us know Brian Lawson has confirmed these are unofficial:

The unofficial thing is related to the fact that only "official" shots of anything at this point are the B&W ones in the back of the Dragonshard manual. The fact that these shots were released in an "unofficial" manner (hence making them unofficial) is being addressed.
