GameAxis offers a review of Dungeon Siege. Their rating is a 7.8/10, and their conclusion reads like this:
Overall Dungeon Siege does have a number of negative gameplay points like the lack of a proper fantasy storyline and poor game AI. Dungeon Siege's multiplayer portion also needs some tweaking, especially the ZoneMatch in-game browser and networking code. Technically the game is very stable with no major show-stopping bugs.

Dungeon Siege will be remembered at least for its spectacular game engine, with beautiful game graphics and seamless transitions. It does offer a refreshing view in the RPG genre which increases skills based on a character's combat style. Furthermore the way the game handles character death allows for players to cease worrying about their characters dying and concentrate more on having fun. Hopefully the promised upcoming editing tools would expand DS's value.

Even with its problems, Gas Powered Games did deliver a working game that redefines action RPG. It is still highly recommended for fans of action RPG.
