Gamespy dug up a preview of Magic The gathering - Online, the (yep) onlie version of the card game quite a few of us were and are still playing. here's a bit:
Once you understand the basics, each card clearly spells out how it fits into the rules, and in some cases, breaks those rules. Magic is a game with almost as many exceptions as rules, introducing a considerable amount of tension as players trump each other and puzzle out their strategies based on what's on the table. The online version has an experimental mode that allows new players to test out the basic mechanics at their own pace, getting a feel for how the game works and letting the computer handle all the bookkeeping. In fact, this is one of the most significant advantages of playing online. "You can't play wrong and you don't have to memorize all the extensive rules," says Kyle Murray, Wizards of the Coasts' marketing director. |
