We already reported about the latest patch changes for Lineage, but now NCSoft sent out a press release with more detailed plans for the "improvement" of Lineage. Looks like the players can expect quite a lot of new content in the next few months:
Seoul, South Korea, June 24, 2003- NCsoft Corporation (CEO Tack Jin Kim) announced plans to unveil its newest installment of the Lineage series on test servers beginning on July 2 in Korea. The first of six episodes to be released over approximately three years has been dubbed Light and Shadow and will go public on July 2.
The Light and Shadow episode will feature a new class system, a first for Lineage since the launch of its game services. Amid increasing speculation among gamers, the new class system provides a new and exciting challenge for Lineage players.
NCsoft has indicated that the new Lineage series will not stop at mere episode updates, but mark the beginning of a fresh new story, promising to upgrade customer service and game playability to new levels.
Lineage services were launched on Sept. 1998 in Korea with Talking Island, the first of a twelve-episode series. Thereafter, Lineage has succeeded in securing over 2 million loyal customers, showcasing the potential of Korean-made games and playing a pioneering role in the popularization of online games. Lineage currently boasts over 120 thousand concurrent users and was ranked the most popular game at PC Baangs, according to a study by Media Web in Korea.
