A Raph Koster Q&A about Star Wars: Galaxies has been posted on SWG Holonet. Here's a bit:
5. In contrast to the rest of the game, battlefields feel like treadmills. If factions fight on it over and over again (due to the reset) what are your plans to keep it challenging?
Battlefields in that sense are rather like treadmills. You have to keep in mind that the battlefields placed on the map are not really intended for the purpose of determining control over areas of the map or anything like that. Rather, they are more like arenas into which you can go and have a fun time, and earn some faction points. They have a lot of neat features—like the ability to build walls on the battlefield for defense, and such—but they are not where the central action of the war happens.
The central action happens outside the design-placed battlefields, in the places where the players themselves are fighting the Galactic Civil War. |
