Angband: 10/10 points |
Angband is still a favourite! I played this on my old Macintosh for four years, played it through 'bout five times with different characters. Every time I got some new, exciting gear, every time exploring new, exciting places.
That's high octane RPGing for you, I think! NetHack pushes the envelope deeper into real RPGing ofcourse, but Angband is something I still dig up from my archives for a few weeks of play (ZAngband is brilliant) because it's just so easy to get into, but tough to master. |
Arx Fatalis: 9/10 points |
It's a brilliant game, though not perfect (but what is?). I have to say that for a first timer this is really an impressive piece of work. It's been years since I've been glued to my monitor like this... Arx is the best thing since Angband for me :) And as for the atmosphere...BEST EVER! At times epicly adventurous, other times it totally creeped me out, grrreat! |
Deus Ex: 9/10 points |
This one was a very enjoyable, epic adventure. It's a fair RPG too, you can solve most problems in many different ways, and much depends on what augmentations you choose to use (which also has an effect on level exploration). As a FPS...well, you have to take in account that if you're going to play an anti-terrorist agent, you probably will use some projectiles...I mean, if it were a medieval game, you'd use a sword, right (FPS = First Person Sworder ;)? So I wouldn't mark it as a FPS, but as an adventure with a good mix of RPGing. |
