There are two more reviews of Arcanum out there to report: The one at Head 2 head Gaming rates the game 78% and 79% (there are two reviewers) and is quite positive:

Mish: I agree with you Surfer. But you had bugs? I did not...*shrug shoulders* lucky me! The whole turn-based thing did not do it for me when implemented. I think that this is a B+ game as well....the only thing keeping it from an A is the engine: the tile-like top-down perspective is getting old fast especially when it looks a generation behind like this. I would like to see 3D or anything else. Also, viewing my character and her adventures at the only resolution available-800x600-gets tiring. I want to see more beauty. But that's my take...

Surfer: And i can generally agree with thee.
The second review can be found at Gamevisions. They have a very high rating of 95% - and a extremely positive conclusion:
I know I've been somewhat harsh on some aspects of the game, but don't get the wrong impression. I absolutely love Arcanum. The Dungeons and Dragons games still remain as my favorite RPGs simply because I personally love the environment and story of the Forgotten Realms, but Arcanum pulls in as a close second (indeed, I do like it more than Fallout and Fallout 2.) Perhaps the biggest mistake made in the game is the title. It should have been named "Fallout 3: Arcanum. A really, really, really pre-nuclear role-playing game." Many of the good parts of Fallout are in Arcanum, while leaving behind some of the bad (though not all.) In the end, despite the dryness at times, and the so-so graphics, Arcanum is an extremly large and full game, featuring a character system where your statistics and your actions very much affect how the world and your time in it works, which, needless to say, is extremely difficult in terms of development. If you love having a profound effect on the game world, or enjoy games set in unusual time periods, Arcanum is an absolute must-have for your collection. This is what a CRPG is all about!
