NW Vault has released a review of the NWN fan-mod Withering In the Darkness Chapter 1 - Whispers In Nightmares . The score is a solid 7.5/10 and here's a clip:
"Withering in the Darkness - Chapter 1" is a primarily action based module that was definitely entertaining to play. The player is immediately thrust into the central plot of the story through a dark and foreboding nightmare sequence, which intentionally leaves you with more questions than answers. However, upon awakening, you find yourself in a fairly idyllic town with no one really forcing you in any one direction. Many of the townspeople have various tasks for you to complete if you are so inclined. It can actually be a bit disconcerting, and it can be difficult to determine which quests may be too challenging to tackle right off the bat. Many are typical quests that we have come to expect: find my lost ___, find these ingredients, get item X from person Y for me, etc. However, they are not without little creative touches (the reward for the Lost Chickens quest was particularly amusing). You can also hang out in the local tavern, cause a bar fight, and even play a little blackjack (a great way to raise funds for necessary equipment).
