Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 10/10 points |
My system:
PIII700(o/c to 770); 384/133RAM; Geforce3Ti200; SB Live! 1028
Runs smoothly enough for my full enjoyment with view at 75%, shadows off, AI 25% and sound high
Gameplay is EXCELLENT.
I have played many major RPG's (for decades!) to conclusion and this is up with the best and certainly THE best, given current technological expectations. Some of the criticisms are actually very minor in practice. Take lack of combat feedback...This is purely intuitive and something you pick up very quickly - most difficult opponents 'look' difficult. In combat itself, one hit from them tells you all you need to know. As for the damage YOU do, if you are hitting and causing a reaction then keep it up! If they hit you more often and do regular significant damage (which various spells and potions cannot compensate for) then find a way to get out of there!! Variation in music ... I have simply added a host of favourite mp3's to the list (some from Ultimas of course) and the results speak for themselves - boring it ain't! Walking ... What's wrong with walking? When I want to get places fast and on foot I run, then I walk, then I run (maybe i take a potion too :))- seems fine to me. Not sure what to do with all that freedom? ... What are you doing playing a serious RPG? Lack of character reactions and 'lives' ... Sure, this is a reasonable criticism but, on balance, I want to find whomever I want when I want and this suits me just fine. Now...perhaps some animations for reactions to weather...or for you drawing a weapon... or for you being a fearsome/awesome/underwhelming whatever... Ahhh well, nothing's perfect. Suffice to say, this game is amazing. Take account of the editor and it is simply awe-inspiring!!!!!! |
