A bew Arx Fatalis interview was put online at gaminggroove yesterday. Here's somthing on NPC's:
GamingGroove: What kind of role will NPCs play in the world of ARX Fatalis?
Arx Fatalis - Raphael: The particularity of the NPCs in Arx is that every one of them can be friend or foe... Well, not all of them actually: there are monsters that will always be monsters, but most 'intelligent' NPCs (including Snake Women, human beings, Trolls, and Goblins) are not necessary good or evil... Some times it depends on the way you approach them, and it depends on what you do for them or against them. About the role they play: I'd say they have their own problems and interest, and you have your mission... Now, most of them can help you in fulfilling your goal, but you'll have to take part into their problems and help them in return. Otherwise, know that you can also ignore them all, or even worst: you can kill them all, really that depends on the way you want to play. This is why it is difficult for me to answer your question, as the role of the NPCs really depend on the players.
