PlanetDiablo sends along word that Blizzard may be holding the Diablo 2 patch 1.09c back due to a new Realm hack which lets other players steal from your inventory. The patch was supposed to be released yesterday morning, then Blizzard "pushed it back" to yesterday afternoon and finally evening but the patch never showed up. So it might actually be an accurate guess that they're currently trying to eradicate the item hack.

Here's a word on the hack and how to protect yourself (from PlanetDiablo):

When the hacker opens the trade window, [their item(s)] should be already in the trade box when it opens. [That is] the first warning sign. If you think that someone is trying to hack you, have them move the item around in the trade box. With the hack running, it should prevent them from doing that. If they move it, it is safe to trade. Also, word is that they will leave the trade window, then come back and trade with you again (then is when the item is already there). With this info it should be easy to prevent it.
