Yet another review of Sid Meier's 'Pirates!' is up at AccessGamer who found the game worthy of 7.6/10 points.
For the uninitiated, Pirates! is the original trendsetter as far as Pirate-themed naval action role-playing games are concerned, having been released in 1987 for the Amiga game system and later ported to the PC. It can be recognized as the inspiration behind Akella’s Sea Dogs and the sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as any other Pirate related games that may have slipped under the radar. Besides the aforementioned titles, the game failed to spawn many imitators making this overdue remake all the more welcome. It doesn’t veer far from the original’s formula, of which captured the hearts and lives of many gamers back in the past, presenting the final product as a fine game.
