RPGVault has written an intelligence report on Divine Divinity Larian Studio's highly anticipated RPG. The articles collects known facts about the game and is a nice summary, imho:
Player Character: Probably due to the game's emphasis on story, the selection of player characters is limited to choosing among the Way of the Wizard, the Way of the Warrior and the Way of the Survivor, plus opting for a male or female avatar. These choices influence starting attribute scores; for example, warriors are stronger while wizards are more intelligent, and female characters have greater dexterity but lower strength. The choice of a Way also confers a unique ability related to that path such as a special attack for a warrior.
Character Advancement: Divine Divinity uses an original rules system with four main attributes, strength, dexterity, intelligence and stamina. Upon reaching each new level, the player receives points that can be used to raise these stats. The game also has an extensive skill that reportedly incorporates 96 skills. Each Way has 32, which are divided into four separate paths. Skills must be learned through research, which costs experience points. Some have prerequisites. Little is known about the specific individual skills. In addition to the primary attributes, there are several secondary ones derived from them or affected by items et al. Examples include resistances (lightning, fire, poison and spirit), various offensive and defensive modifiers, and hitpoint and mana levels. |
