Nival's Silent Storm has been previewed at HomeLan Fed (who have a spanky new layout). It's a hands-on look at the WWII squad-based game based on a beta retail build. Here's a snip:
Once you get your character and your team all set up you head into the storyline for Silent Storm. The game is fashioned more like a good WWII movie; fictional but fun with a lot of action and lots of stuff to blow up. Since this is a turn based strategy game you have to complete certain actions in your turn (move, fire, hide and so on) while using your Action Points (or APs). Once your APs are expended your turn is over and it’s the enemy’s turn to go after you. The RPG portion of Silent Storm comes into play when your team completes a mission and you can increase skills like shooting, moving, hiding and so forth. There is also a type of percentage system that can determine what your chances are of sniping that enemy soldier from far away. Nival claims that there are 75 authentic weapons to chose from in the game.
