The key to Riftrunner seems to be customization. When the game starts, you can choose the gender, body type, facial features, and hair and skin color of your hero. You can even play as a child. There are no classes in the game; instead, you build up whatever skills and spells you wish so you can play your own way. A reputation system that keeps track of what choices you make and will affect how others react to you to further customize the gameplay.
