The Stratos Group have taken a look at Wolfpack's Shadowbane and were positively surprised by what they saw.At the time it did not look overly great, and what I read about it didn't seem too impressive. As a result I wasn't expecting too much when I was led into their tent at E3 by a developer for a preview. Instead, what I found surprised me. In an age when most MMORPGs are trying to deter player killing, Shadowbane is encouraging it! Now, I don't mean the type of player killing that you find in Everquest or Asheron's Call, wherein there are big penalties attached to dying, instead in Shadowbane the setbacks are minimal, and you can set it so that you don't lose your cool items. Also, instead of having a bunch of people aimlessly running about completing tasks on their own or with others in towns that are pre-defined, Shadowbane intends to have the players form towns and be responsible to each other. Those who do not choose to join a group will suffer penalties in such that, while it is possible, it is also harder to be a loner.
