Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 9/10 points |
Made by some of the same fine folks who brought us Fallout. I had some serious performance issues with this game, but it was so damn good that I plodded through anyway. Lots of great sub-plots and the freedom to play the game the way you want make this one a classic. |
Dungeon Master 2 - The Legend of Skullkeep: 10/10 points |
I LOVED this game back in the day. It had a great, creepy atmosphere that had me playing til way past my bedtime. This game and chicks are the main reasons I almost didn't make it through college. |
Fallout 2: 9/10 points |
How can you not love this game? A great story, great characters, and pretty damn funny at times. A few serious bugs keep it from getting a ten, but no RPG gamer should be without this on in his CD rack. |
Gothic: 8/10 points |
Let's call this game "Morrowind Lite". Still, on its own it is a great game. A little less free form, with a little better story. Controls are a bitch, but not a game killer. |
Icewind Dale 2: 9/10 points |
Tactical combat meets RPG gaming at its finest. Great game. |
Neverwinter Nights: 2/10 points |
Mix one part Darkstone, one part Diablo, shake and throw out the window. |
Planescape: Torment: 10/10 points |
I'm a huge fan of RPGs and Adventure games. Planescape perfectly blends the two in a way I've not seen before, nor since. This game should have sold more than Diablo and Myst combined. |
Wizardry 8: 4/10 points |
God-awful boring. The damn battles can take hours, literally. I never even finished it because I just couldn't see devoting my life to endless series of painfully slow battles. The story seemed promising, but alas I do have a life. |
