The Abyss

-Getting Around the LB vs BT Fight Crash

"Okay, LB and BT fight in the bottom of Abyss... after that, many people are complaining about crashing...
Well, after about 6 times watching it, I noticed a few things... First off, I turned off all speach... didn't help. I turned all sounds down, and that didn't help. I went to see if I could set the game to "no sound", but you can't...

Well... I eventually noticed that my hard drive was just going into overdrive and things were loading slowly... and I figured... "Okay... it's wanting to do a BUNCH of stuff right now... but it's not being given time to do it!"

So what I did, in a whimsical stroke of luck, I decided "Hell, Alt-Tab when the hard drive goes like that and give it a chance to catch up!"

Whaddya know! IT WORKED!

Here's the exact cause of the problem... Blackthorne is such an asshole, we all know he loves to cause trouble for the avatar... but in his death throes, he decides "Screw this, I'll get back at the idiot playing the game!" (Think of it as a sub-quest!) Okay, seriously, BT casts SOOOO MANY lightning bolts, the residual static charges keep going for awhile... right?

Well, as soon as LB starts to talk, ALT-TAB! Let it sit at the desktop (or whatever you alt-tabbed to) until your hard drive slows down to occasional flickers... Alt-tab back into the game... LB should speak (or should be just getting done) and you will get your prompts for what to say back... if the HD starts going nuts again, ALT-TAB! Let it catch up, then go back into the game!"

-Finding A Binding Pentagram

When you get into the Earth room look at the second pit. It has a button in it. You can press it from outside. It reveals a set of steps and a passage at the bottom of the main chamber. If you look on the wall there will be some steps leading up. Just climb each step up to the top and you will see a cave. Follow this cave down to the pentagram room where you can bind your spells.

It's in the first section of the Abyss right after Pyros pulls you under. It's on the opposite side of the cavern from the statues and the dragon...follow one of the paths to the far wall. There's a steep rise that's rather difficult to climb. I don't know if you can get up there without fly-mode or climbing a staff. Up there, behind the rocks, is a body holding a Frost Sword.

Look for the three statues projecting lights into a pit. Fall in! If you ecide to explore this area before you jump in. Here are some things you can find.

-The Demon Triumverate are here, and they appear to be invincible.

-Abyss The Entryway
As you make your way through the entryway, you get progressively closer to the bottom. First, You have to collect each of the colored orbs representing the elemental planes of existance: Black (Air), Red (Fire), Green (Earth) and Blue (Water) orbs. After the Blue Orb, You will place the orbs onto a pylon and disintegrate them as they create gateways to their elemental planes. You have to kill the the guardians of each plane to remove the barrier that blocks the entryway into the Abyss. The Leggings of the Sentri is extremely handy here. You have them dont you?

-Black Orb
You appear next to a blue painting of an Ankh. At this point, the right option is blocked off - so follow the passage to the left. As you pass the brazier, you will end up in a room full of treasure, but unfortunately it is only an illusion. Be prepared to fight a Gazer here. When you've finished it, there is a switch block on the right wall toward the rear wall - press it. Head back to the Ankh painting and continue to the right (the passage that was blocked before).

There are black balls of energy coming from the ceiling, which are attracted to you, Every 3 seconds 4 of them shoot down and hit you. They do not hurt. What you have to do is get the balls to hit the point in the center of the room. But watch out for the lightning. IT HURTS! When you succeed, grab the Black Orb and jump on the teleporter.

-Red Orb
You emerge in the entryway, one platform down. This time you will enter a room with two hell hounds. Kill the hounds, hit the switch, and then each of the red buttons. Each button will shoot a fireball into the faces on the opposite wall. The brick switch will open a new area. When you're done there should be a column in the center of the room with the Red Orb.

Head back to the gate and you should notice there is a new area open directly ahead of you. Dounse out the fires on the two golden braziers, and douse out the fireplace with your linear magic. Jump through the teleporter that appears there.

-Green Orb
Once again, you are in the entryway. When you enter the following room you will see two moving columns, a gazer, and three pits full of spikes. Wack the Gazer and hop across to the other side of the room. On the North side is a switch plate on the floor. You will have to drop and empty potion on it to hold the steps out that reveal on the other end. Climb up them, and climb to where the golden Ankh is. Touch it and it opens up the coffin on the west wall. Head back along the catwalk where the plants are up top, and hit the wall switch. It's quite hidden in the plants. It reveals the Green Orb in the next room.

Inside the coffin is a Book written to the Avatar from the Timelord. He explains that in order to beat the traps Blackthorn has laid for you. You need the scroll Time Stop (Actually you can live without it) Grab it! head back to the teleporter and take the North passage from there.

The next room you will find the Green orb. Grab it fast and jump the teleporter. The floor tiles spin after you, taking a lot of points off your health bar.

"Also, in the Abyss, in the Shaft where the portals are, there is a room that has a binding pentagram. I believe it is closest to the earth pedistal. Stand on the cube outside and look for a room with a blueish purple haze to the opening. Jump in and go down the hall. Along with the pentagram, there is a chest with each reg in it. Pick your spell to bind wisely. I bound the time stop spell."

-Blue Orb
When you reach the water pool: wack the fish with your linear spell before you continue. Start on your left, and jump to the steps that pop out of the West wall, then work your way to the blocks on the North wall. When your there, hit the wall switch and go back towards the teleporter.

Continue down the East passage. Kill the Ice Hound and cast a fireball on the crystal over the Teleporter. Grab the Blue Orb and hop on the teleporter.

-Opening the Gateways to the Elemental Planes
At the bottom of the pit, place each orb on the pedestal: The orbs will desintegrate. When they are all gone, jump on the teleporter.

-Elemental Plane of Air
From the teleporter at the bottom of the pit, you're back at the Black Orb level. Head on to the room where the lightning bolts were and climb the platforms. Jump in to the gate in the wall.

You will be standing on a tall rock column. Befor you go anywhere: wack the two Wyrms flying around with Iolos bow: just to get them out of your way. There are three passages to take from here: South takes you to the sword in the stone; Can't have it at first; West will eventually it take you to a water fountain. Continute from there it takes you back to the South path; East passage splits into 4 directions. The first one on your far left takes you to the water pool where ther west passage takes you. The next one (clockwise) heads to the mountains tothe east. Kill the blue dragon there.

When you get over to the mountains, you have to hop up and around the mountain clockwise. When you kill it, a teleporter appears on the column where you started.

Before you leave, head back to that sword in the stone.

"Cast Ethereal Sight and you should find 5 globes scattered about the map. Place these globes on the pedestal where the sword is, this will free the sword. When looking for the globes, start with the one that is on one of the stone pedestals with poles leading into/away from it. Each globe has a teleporter by it that will take to the next. The last teleporter will take you directly to the sword."

Hop on the teleporter and your back to the Black Orb level. Jump on the teleporter where the lightning.

-Elemental Plane of Fire
Take the west (left) hallway into the flames and step on the floor switch, wait for the passage in the wall appears, jump into the teleporter.

When you arrive in the Elemental Plane of Fire, you need to go South, but there are a number of paths to take. Take the West path and as soon as it T's off to the North (left), go North. Follow it around in a circle. As soon as your facing South again, it Y's off to the West (right), Go west! You will have to jump over some lava here.

Keep going South, its a bit of a walk. Take the logical paths! Sooner or later you will arrive at a large open flat area with a large flaming pentagrram on the floor.

A purple potion (invincibility) comes in handy here. When hess done for, a teleporter appears North of the flaming pentagram. There is a 'Ring of Fire' scroll lying about on the floor. Hop on the teleporter, you're back in the green level.

-Elemental Plane of Earth
Take the North passage (right) down the green hall to the teleport in the wall.

The West passage takes you to a nest of Creaper Plants. You can find a glass sword there. Listen for the high ping sound. Its on the North side.

South, you will meet a Stone Golem. When you kill him, a teleport appears. All the chests but one are mimics. The chest closest to the rock pillar has Blackrock Chests.

The teleporter takes you back to the green level. Head down the hallway where the spinning tiles were, and jumo through the teleporter to the Blue level.

-Elemental Plane of Water
You appear on a large rock column facing North towards some mountains. In the water to the South of you, hop around your way North. When you make your way to the mountains, keep going North and work your way to the Northern-most lake. Kill the Serpent there. When the serpent is dead, a teleporter is revealed directly to the South next to 3 gray columns near the lake behind you.

When you return to the Gateway, jump into the pit!

The next part is simple, watch the plot sequence and don't forget to grab the Glyph of Spirituality and talk to Lord British. You will arrive back to the Isle of the Avatar.
