Enlight Software producer, Chu Tim Kin, has been interviewed at Gaming Horizon about their work on Joan of Arc: GH: What made you decide to base a game on the JoA tale, and is this an RTS or action title?
Chu: We chose Joan of Arc because she is widely regarded as one of the most inspirational and unique characters to grace the entire medieval period. Arguably, she is also the best known of all medieval characters. Joan of Arc possessed many fine military qualities that would put a lot of generals of either sex to shame. She possessed unmatched courage in battle and exceptional acumen as demonstrated in her military planning. Therefore, it was quite an easy decision that she would become the center character of our latest endeavor and the one to spearhead the new Wars and Warriors series from Enlight.
Wars & Warriors: Joan of Arc is not so much a genre-breaking title as it is a genre-melding title. Joan of Arc has action, RTS and RPG gameplay elements. At the beginning of this project, we wanted to create a medieval game on a grand scale--one that would enable players to strategically command troops by formulating siege and defense plans. However, we did not feel the concept would be compelling enough if it relied on a traditional real-time strategy interface, which rarely gives players the opportunity to be fully immersed in battle. | Source: Homelan Fed |
