GameSpy has a nice Age of Conan preview based on a demo from Funcom's Gaute Godager:In the field outside of a semi-ravaged village, Godager spawned himself a horse, and proceed to climb on with his character. He then pointed at a group of marauding bandits in the distance, and asked that we appreciate just how wholly he would devastate them. As it turns out, when you hit someone while riding a horse in Age of Conan, you're going to injure them severely. The velocity at which you're traveling will actually be taken into account when you make impact, making all the appropriate numbers that much larger. Godager demonstrated mounted combat using both a sword and a lance; when using the sword, he actually had to shift it from arm to arm, depending on where the enemies he wanted to attack were standing. With the lance, as you'd imagine, the frontal radius is much narrower. |
