Thanks to MMOG-Welten for letting us know that they have an interview with Jeffrey Steefel, the Executive Producer for Lord of the Rings Online.
MMOG-Welten: Which advantages do you have when you join a kinship in lord of the rings online?

Jeffrey Steefel: At launch kinship is gonna be fairly basic to the MMO. It is a way for people to group together to make people share some questing. Itīs a way for people to share some items and loot and its a social way for people to get together. In our elder game there will be more siginficant reasons to be in a kinship.
