Microsoft's upcoming MMORPG, Vanguard, is the subject of a preview at RPG Vault. A snippet:
Technology-wise, the title is being built for the future. Sigil has licensed the Unreal Engine. This has helped to accelerate the overall development schedule, and to create a beautiful, highly detailed gameworld. The clipping plane is no longer noticeable, nor will your experience be punctuated with zone lines. Large landmarks can be seen for miles. The developers believe players will learn to use these to help navigate around the very large environment, which will be make the experience more natural and less distracting than incorporating a map in the heads-up display. In the demo, Ryan flew a camera to various locations in the world, which seemed the most realistic among those I saw. Keith Parkinson even mentioned the surroundings will change based on latitude. The developers are also embracing Microsoft's XNA API. While they didn't say so, this may indicate they are developing for the XBox 2 as well as the PC.
