An interview with Bioware on Neverwinter Nights can be found at french site role-expert. Here's a bit from that:
Games-Expert : For many people there is a misunderstanding between server and module, can you clarify it for them ?? What are the actual limits of the multiplayer ?? Does the 64 players obligation can be removed or adapted ??

The server is the machine that hosts the games - and the games run modules that either we create or the player creates. Servers come in two varieties - they can be either integrated into the client, which means that the person hosting the game server is also playing on the machine, or they can be stand-alone, which means the server alone is running on the system. Obviously a stand alone server has greater capacity than the integrated server. One of the things we will be exploring during the Beta Test is the capacity of the servers, and how far they can be stretched.
