A very nice preview of Morrowind has gone up on Gone Gold yesterday (i.e. it got its own page then, because it was a part of their regular newscast) Here's a part of what it has to say about graphics on average machines:
Excellent follow up. ;) One of the options in the Video Details is the "Fog Effect" which is the biggest help in toning down the pull on the system. While being able to see the buildings in the distance is very nice and allows you to really get a feel for the scope of a town, it's not a bad compromise to being able to play the game. Other sliders include reflections, shadows, and of course different resolution settings.
The 1024 setting runs just fine, but you can go as low as 640 or as high as 1600. The water effects in the game are striking and incredibly real. I had my nose pressed up against the screen just to see how it was actually done. I still don't know how, but impressed nonetheless. Weather is also incredibly realistic and changes constantly. Rain will come down slowly or quickly, with drops showing as rings in the streams. Lightening will knock you out of your chair, especially the first time it strikes. |
