RPG Vault has posted a report from last week's Austin Game Conference. They were apparently able to speak to representatives of Wolfpack ('Shadowbane'), NCsoft ('City of Heroes', 'Lineage'), Cryptic Studios ('City of Heroes') and others...Last Thursday and Friday, the second annual Austin Game Conference, held side by side with the initial Women's Game Conference, drew a reported 1,400 people to and from the Texas city, which is home to approximately three dozen studios. The primary focus was an extensive series of presentations, panels and other sessions covering various facets of the massively multiplayer category. The list of speakers comprised a virtual who's who, with far too many familiar names to list here. Although the stated attendance may seem crowd-like, the event was intimate compared to the other trade shows I've seen this year, which are larger by at least an order of magnitude. As a result, it offered a concentrated learning opportunity relative to one of RPG Vault's core areas plus the chance to meet and renew acquaintances with many developers working within it. |
