The world of Rivellon

The Northern Continent
In a world called "Rivellon", two rivers flow. The rivers create natural borders, dividing the world in distinctive parts. Click on the image below to open up a map of the world.

In the northern continent of this world the Dukedom of Ferol is found. The captial of the Dukedom is named Rivertown, which is the largest city by far.
Just north of the town lies Stormfist Castle where the duke and his family resides.
To the northwest of the castle and Rivertown lies the peacefull village of Aleroth, where the games starts for you and your quest towards your destiny begins.
In the far northeast lies Verdistis a wealthy city and in the far south lies the Dark Forrest, Teneb Tiriel. In this very dangerous forrest, filled with monsters there is a small elven village named Fiu Nimble, which offers you some shelter on your travels through the forrest.
In the west the mountais form a natural border, in these mountains you will find the Dwarven Halls and in the south west lies the desert, Yuthul Gor.

The presented map is a teleportation map and the small oval shapes indicate teleporters. Back in ancient times, the elder races had a fully functional teleporting system. Since racial discrimination was evident even then, you could however not use for instance human teleporters if you were a lizard and vice versa. In order to use one of the teleporters, you needed to acquire the teleportation scroll of that race, which obviously were racial secrets. Nowadays the teleporters have grown obsolete, but as is evident from the map, the player might have a way of re-activating them.
Note however that the teleporters on the map need to be activated one by one before they can be used and once a teleporter is activated there is a blue fire on it displayed on the map as can be seen at the teleporter on the road to Alleroth.

Besides that you can also use two teleporter stones you'll find in the game. You can jump between the two locations of the stones. One or both stones can be worn in your backpack. Pretty cool, works more or less like a sort of town portal spell, but you can choose where the "town" is (where you lay one of your stones). Of course, you can only jump back to where you put your stone.

Aleroth
The games starts in the small village Aleroth which lies in a forrest. Aleroth is also known as the "Village of Healers". One of the best known healers in the village is Mardaneus who wanted to get all the healing knowledge together into one place. Healers from all around the place come to Aleroth and share their knowledge. But now Mardaneus appeared to have gone mad...

Alroth has several houses which you can explore and NPCs you can talk to and get quests from, for you to solve. Beneath Aleroth are the catacombes which is an invaluable opportunity to increase your experience before you venture into the world.
You do not have to do anything in Aleroth, you can just walk out the gate and follow the main story line, however you do miss out on all the experience, which makes it harder for you to survive.

Live
The world of Rivellon is alive. There will be animals walking around, such as rabbits, frogs, chickens etc. Birds will fly over your head and butterflies do the same. If you want to be an evil person you can go ahead and kill them of course, but if you kill a cow belonging to someone then he or she is hardly going to be friendly to you.
One of the nice things is that you can shapeshift into an animal. One of them is a frog and a frog can run very hard and you can even go through fences and such. Which is not possible in your human form.

Time
Every hour in Divinity is 3 minutes in real life. So an entire day in the game will have past after 72 minutes. During this period the normal night and day sequence will appear.

Weather
There will be a real weather system in Divinity, with sunny days. But also with rain and snow.
