Internal Affairs

Someone was telling me lately that I do not rant that much in my rants - and that's true for the most part. So I decided to change the name of this sporadic lamentations of mine to "Internal Affairs".

I hope you enjoyed our Divine Divinity review we published yesterday. Some of you might wonder why none of the core stuff has done it. We decided to ask Val, one of the fine ladies taking care of and adding some soul to our boards, to do that one, because she's a splendid writer - and because we felt that most of us here would have been to biased to write a fair review. Now, if you look at the screen names of some of our staff here, you will know what I mean. You can find them in Divine Divinity as well, and this is because some of us here were either involved in polishing some elements of the game (one of our former editors even did a lot of story work for Divinity) or very active on the Larian boards. We always try to stay neutral in our articles, and with this connection to the makers of the game, we wanted to avoid possible bias in what we do. Divinity came out with a 92% rating in Val's review, and that's just because the game is a gem, simply put. For me it is a candidate for RPG of the year.

As I mentioned on Friday, I am sticking my nose into Earth & Beyond these days. You know, I am not a MMORPG freak at all, since the early days of Ultima Online I haven't been enthusiastic about a MMORPG at all, but this one has a little more appeal to me than most of the others so far.

Speaking of Earth & Beyond: I wonder why we do not see a Elite 4. It is said that they (how many are they?) are working on it, but it is said for years now and nothing ever happens. Elite 4 would be a sure buy for me - and I think with today's technology this would be an awesome game. Maybe Freelancer can be something like Elite 4, but given the previews I have read so far, I am not quite sure. Hell, I want an endless universe and space to explore *g*
